Do It the Right Way

"Just do it the proper way and plan ahead 6 months to a year

and do it the right way."

I was recently told this.

im not mad or angry,

because i know there is no proper way,

and no right way to plan a wedding.

but i am sad.

I'm sad for all the women and brides out there 

pressured to plan their wedding according to societies unwritten rules.

They are expected to follow the herd of past brides

and do what they did.

And when one starts creating their own path,

away from the rest,

they are scorned.

Weddings are not for the guests.

They are not for the mother of the bride,

or mother of the groom.

Weddings are for the bride and groom.

Stay steadfast for your beliefs and wants.

Stand up to criticism. 

Its the One day where it is all about you.

(okay, birthdays count too!)
